To the Editor:
I am writing to express my support for Barb Larson who is a candidate for 2nd Ward Alderman in DeKalb. I have personally known Barb for over 21 years. She is a compassionate, intelligent, and an analytical person who genuinely cares about the DeKalb community. She is an extraordinarily strong candidate for the position.
Barb embedded herself into DeKalb when she attended Northern Illinois University in 1975 and graduated with a BA degree. She is in a managerial position on the Larson family farm and keeps the operation running smoothly.
When Barb’s and her husband Norm’s children Jeanine and Renee attended the DeKalb School District Barb was a devoted volunteer on a variety of committees and the past chair of DeKalb Music Boosters.
Her community volunteer work includes the Egyptian Theatre and providing essential meals to Hope Haven. She was instrumental in landscape design while volunteering at Oak Crest Retirement Center. She was the past chair of the Family Service Agency and the past chair on her church’s council.
Most recently, Barb successfully spearheaded a group investment in a year-long acquisition of a land-locked partial. Her farming and land knowledge were a crucial part of the purchase.
I have the highest regard for Barb. She has a strong work ethic as well as a team-player and leader; she is a listener and an excellent communicator. Barb is loyal to her family, friends and to our community. She is passionate about DeKalb and its residents which is the reason she is running for alderman.
Barb will represent the citizens in her 2nd Ward as well as the citizens of DeKalb. Please join me in voting for Barb Larson as the new 2nd Ward Alderman in DeKalb.
